Millions of years ago, Redmond Salt was a part of a pristine sea. Long before the earth knew pollutants, a huge ancient sea covered North America. Pure, natural salt was the main ingredient of this sea, and over millions of years the sea evaporated, leaving this salt in undisturbed deposits. At some point during the Jurassic Era a range of volcanos erupted, sealing the salt with thick volcanic ash, protecting these deposits against the pollution man would eventually introduce into the environment. Redmond Natural Sulfur Block is an all-natural salt block extracted from these deposits, containing more than fifty trace minerals.
